Every year I try to come up with New Years Resolutions, but always seem to fail. They are usually something like: workout more, or stop eating junk food. However, this time around, I will work harder towards these resolutions by turning them into goals. This year I have come up with 6 New Years Resolutions that I actually really want to achieve, and will work hard toward. These are my New Years Resolutions.
Explore & Travel More
This year has been an extremely slow year for me. Working during the Summer, and focusing most of my energy on my YouTube beauty channel. Going back to school has also controlled my life in the Autumn, and I barely gave myself any time to do what I love. I think a lot of this has to do with the fact that I procrastinate so often, which is actually another resolution of mine. Exploring and travelling more is my #1 New Years Resolution for this year. I want to give myself time to do more of what I love most, and that is to explore and to travel. So this year, I want to go camping more often, hike more trails around my area, and just explore. I am also very hopeful that my travel plans for the summer coming will actually happen. You should check out my Instagram to see my most recent explorations!
I have always been the worst at saving money. Previously, I worked in a fashion boutique where I saw beautiful clothing on a day-to-day basis. I constantly have to remind myself ‘no you don’t need that’, or ‘you can wait a little bit longer to eat when you get home’, and even ‘that’s $10 that could go towards my travel savings’. To save more I will avoid the cafeteria at school so I am not tempted to buy lunches at school. I won’t buy knick knacks I don’t need, cut back on how much I spend on makeup, and throw lump sums of money into my travel savings as soon as I get it. Why do I want to save more? So I can travel more.
Have a Healthier Lifestyle
I have been trying to tell myself this for years. My New Years Resolution every year is to get in shape, and eat healthier. It never sticks, though when I do get into a little routine, it does feel really good. So this year I have made myself a couple of goals that will lead me to a healthier lifestyle. The reason this is a resolutions/goal of mine is pretty self explanatory. I want to live a long, happy, and healthy life.
Procrastination has always been an awful habit of mine. Saving assignments until the night before it’s due, and studying last minute. Most times I am left stressed out, and worried about getting a bad mark on a test. I want to stop procrastinating to reduce some of the stress in my life, and give myself more time to do what I love. It’s sometimes hard for me to get started on something during the week, and then my weekends end up being spent doing homework, or other things that I need to get done. To do this I have created an editorial calendar, and I have an app that helps me keep on track with my homework called the Homework app. The Homework app is set up to notify me about an assignment or test coming up, I can choose when I receive this notification as well. I will also start putting my device on silent, or simply turn it off whenever I am doing homework or studying. I want to stop procrastinating, and manage my time better so I can have more time to do the things I love.
Another New Years Resolution that I have is to read more. This is a hobby of mine that I never seem to give myself time to do. It is so relaxing to just sit back with a tea, cozy up, and read a book. For a little while you can forget about the world you are living in, and be part of a whole different world. It is a really good way to reduce stress, expand your vocabulary, as well as improve your memory, and writing skills. I have a little list of books I have been wanting to read, and I just keep pushing it aside. To start off, every second night before I go to sleep, I plan to read a chapter of a book. If you have any book recommendations let me know!
Learn a New Language
One funny think about me is that I live in Quebec – the French province of Canada – yet I don’t speak French, and I barely understand it. I think learning French would be a great opportunity for me because it would be a good asset for future job opportunities. Either that, or I would love to learn Spanish since it would be great for travel. Either way, this year I am going to work toward learning a new language. There are a few awesome apps that I have downloaded a few months ago that can help me work toward this goal.
What are your New Years Resolutions and/or goals? Let me know in the comments!
Hope you have a cute week!
